Back A Yard, Menlo Park report w/ pics

hhc | Apr 20, 200610:26 PM     3

I tried it for dinner and really enjoyed it. Others have reported favorable so I had to go. It's Caribbean American Food which I never had until today. I called in my order so I didn't have to wait, and while I was there added more food to go. It's a tiny place only fits 10 ppl, can get very warm inside and clothes stink of smoke, so best to take home.

I got:
Jerk Chicken Meal $8.50
Jerk Pork Meal $8.50
Beef Oxtails special dish-$12.50
All these come w/ rice and beans, fried plantains (I asked for them in a separate box since i don't eat fried things) and tossed salad (comes w/ ranch dressing)

I really like the jerk meats-kinda spicy and very tasty, juicy meats. Oxtails is very tender..just so good.
Rice and Beans-just ok for me
Tossed salad-just average

Also got:
cornbread $1-decent. Didn't see any corn in it, not sweet, a tiny bit dry.
mac and cheese- $2-pretty good
collard greens $2-I always want to like collard greens but always find it too salty for my taste.
sweet potato pudding $2.25-just ok. Kinda too dense for me.

Of course I didn't see this until I get home but you can get a jerk chicken/pork combo $9.95! The lady said Jerk Salmon Filet $9 is also good. Big portions--I think one entree is good for 2 meals easy.

I recommend the meat entrees and the mac and cheese. It's right off the 101 Willow Exit so easy for people to get off and on 101 or head on to the Dumbarton Bridge.
