I was recently given a grab bag of Chinese candy as a gift and was able to identify most things thanks to the packaging. One item in particular had me puzzled, Xida Corn Flavour Jelly. I was able to get its name and a photo by Googling "baby corn candy", which is basically what it is. I never thought of baby corn as a viable candy flavor and, after tasting one, I'm still not sure. The texture is a cross between a gummi bear and a circus peanut. The taste is akin to a baby corn dipped in Karo. I was repulsed and yet couldn't stop from eating the whole thing. If you have your own opinion I would love to hear it, but I'd really love to find out the ingredients. Is it possible to make a candy entirely from high fructose corn syrup?
