thank you for all of your wonderful responses to the first question below.
So I was wondering: at what price do you all shy away from a great book?
Most seem to be in the $35 range.
I just purchased Eric Ripert's new book for $50 because it was absolutely beautiful and the recipes looked great and I found the raison d'etre of the book to be of interest.
The French Laundry book is similarly expensive.
What would make YOU cross that line, or would you.
Is $40 for a fantastic book (lots of excellent pictures, mouthwatering recipes, history) beyond what most would go to own such a thing?
What was the most expensive cookbook you've purchased?
Do you still refer to it?
