Wretched meal at Old Clam House

Pointybird | Jan 17, 2005 03:12 PM

I just can't figure out why the Old Clam House on Bayshore has gotten so many positive reviews. We ate there Saturday night and with 6 people ordered a number of dishes so got to try a lot. My crab sandwich was bland and tasted unfresh, a friend's clams with liguine seemed to be made with frozen clams and gloppy cream sauce, an order of scallops was tough and tasteless, even the much-vaunted cioppino was really bad. For those prices I'm not willing to play fish roulette! UGH!! Did we just have a particularly bad evening or has the place slipped since it's been reviewed? Even the bread was nasty. Even the butter for the bread seemed old -- they managed to screw up butter! How is it POSSIBLE? On the other hand, my iced tea was good!
