Woodstock lucked out!

Anyone looking for a great lunch or dinner in this area should be sure to try Six Thirty Nine at 639 Peel Street. I believe the young chef/owner gained some experience from working at Splendido in Toronto. It is a lovely little spot (converted older home), with minimalist, tasteful decor, white tablecloths and professional service. Might be a good idea to call ahead as it seats about 30 indoors - they do have a patio for the summer. Now to the food! A new menu was just introduced and we were in for a treat. I had a wonderful duck confit, on a potato rosti, with a dried cherry "jus" and aspargus. The duck was crispy on the outside, but so, so tender on the inside....two healthy legs.....a truly outstanding dish. My lunch partner had a red pepper and goat cheese souffle on mixed greens. The souffle was light and airy - just as it should be! With a glass of Pinot Grigio, a tea, and one dessert (wine poached pear with a small scoop of yummy maple walnut ice cream and high marks for presentation), for under $60, incl tax but not tip. It would be a treasure for any city, but Woodstock is the lucky one! At least someone else on the board has tried it and agreed with me as of last summer - see this link for more info and details....http://www.chowhound.com/topics/404087.
