Wonderful Brunch at Max's Oyster Bar

We enjoyed a lovely meal at Max's Oyster Bar today.

We planned on having brunch but once we saw the menu we all leaned toward Lunch food.

The online menu is not up to date. That is a huge pet peeve of mine, but we were very happy with our choices. I just like to know my options ahead of time.

We started with a bacon bloody mary, nice concept but a bit heavy on the bacon flavor. The traditional bloody mary was much better; just the right amount of spice.

The gentleman started with 12 blue point oysters. They looked very good, large and...well whatever an oyster is supposed to look like, I can not eat them

The ladies both ordered the Wonton Tuna tacos and they were delicous. The Mango salsa was very good with the right amount of sweet that paired well with the wasabi drizzle on the tuna. Presentation was nice but the plate was a bit narrow for the slightly messy tacos.

For our entrees, we once again ordered duplicates. The men both having the Sourdough crab sandwich and the ladies having the Sole with brussel sprout and panchetta hash.

The sole was light and flaky and the sprout hash was delicous. I could easily have made a meal of just that.
I was able to get a small bite of the crab sandwich before my husband devored it.

Desserts were good. Key Lime Pie was really Key lime cheesecake, but had great tart flavor. The English Sticky Toffee pudding had a very strong orange flavor that was surprising, but added a nice level to the flavor. The creme brulee was very good, but the unripe strawberry garnish really took away from the perfect burned sugar.

Service was attentive but not annoying and we never waited for anything.

We did spend more than we had anticipated and that would be the only thing holding me back from visiting in the near future. We enjoyed our experience and I have no issue paying for a nice meal, but it did seem to be a little on the high side.
