Wine Pairing for Shrimp/Chicken in Honey Habanero BBQ Sauce?

mpcarney | Sep 28, 201810:40 AM

A friend makes a killer BBQ sauce and has provided me with a sample of his latest flavor - Honey Habanero BBQ sauce to try. His and other "samplers' have suggested that it goes best on shrimp and chicken vs ribs, pork etc. I'm going to try it this weekend on grilled shrimp and grilled chicken thighs. A friend is bringing an orzo pasta salad and likely some kind of green veggie. There will be three maybe 4 of us and wine is the preferred drink. My initial go to would be a rose - one of my favs is a Mourvedre rose but I drink a lot of that so wondered if there was something different to try? Also it will be cooler out in the San Fernando Valley this weekend particularly after the sun goes down, and we plan on hanging in the yard so would love a red pairing but I'm at a loss as to what that might be? Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
