The Whistling Kettle (Ballston Spa). . .my "new" Jonesville Store (CP)

I have a new favorite lunch place. Went to The Whistling Kettle recently. Not many good lunch choices off Exit 11 and 12. Now I can count The Whistling Kettle as a new favorite. The atmosphere is charming with the brick, cushy booths, loose teas for sale ("sniffing bar and sample rack"), and tea merchandise. It's more lively than The Jonesville Store, which has a quieter vibe. Service was friendly and very good. Plan on a wait if you go during peak hours (they have "15 minute call ahead seating").

I had the "make your own afternoon tea." I started with a cup of the apple butternut squash soup. Very good. For my savory I had the eggplant panini with fried eggplant, mozzarella, spinach, roasted red peppers and sun dried tomato pesto on a grilled ciabatta. For my sweet I had a lemon cream burst crepe filled with lemon curd and scone cream. Their crepes are a little thicker than I'm used to. It was also a folded crepe, not my preference. The crepe filling was delicious. I probably wouldn't get a crepe again. Their cakes looked very good (slices large enough for two!).

The Whistling Kettle is my new lunch favorite when I'm in B. Lake/B. Spa and don't need to grab and go.
