Whole Wheat Sandwich Rolls

tzanghi | Oct 20, 2011 02:12 PM

I know about all of the good white rolls that Philly has to offer(e.g., Liscio's, Sarcone's), but when I cook for myself I try to keep bread consumption to whole wheat for the nutrition. I know that a whole wheat roll just won't come out exactly the same as white, but are there any good ones in the area of the same persuasion as the two mentioned above? I'm basically looking for a good whole wheat roll that I can use for homemade sandwiches(e.g., homemade cheesesteaks, roast pork, tuna hoagies, etc.). If there isn't one, do people think that if I proposed a special whole wheat order to a baker that they might oblige me? Also, if this just seems altogether hopeless, you can put me out of my misery.

I'm in the South Jersey area, so if there isn't one in Philly, I can get to a lot of places in that area as well. Thanks in advance.
