We needed weekend eating that was low-key and fairly quiet. Successful!
We went very early to Radicchio (since no reservations) and again were blown away by the grilled Dover sole, filleted at tableside. At $20, this is one of the best bargains in town. Melt-in-the-mouth flavorful.
Since we were early, it was quiet.
By the way, most of their entrees range between $10 and $16 dollars. Great appetizers, too.
Bonus: their gelato if from Capagiro.
It's at 4th and Wood. It has climbed up to our circle of favorites.
If you want good Chinese food and don't feel up to the tumult of Chinatown, I recommend Mustard Greens on 2nd St. south of South St. Small menu, and everything is good. It is serene, pleasant, excellent service. Try the stuffed eggplant appetizer; it's really an eggplant mixture stuffed into a crispy wrapper. Peaceful.
Siri's is always dependable as a place quiet enough to talk, even when it's full. The food can be very good or just okay; lately, I've felt it might be slipping. Still, there were some excellent choices such as the asparagus soup special and the fish preparations. Their dessert pastries are excellent.
It's on Route 70 in NJ, across from Garden State Race Track. Thai/French. Pleasing atmosphere.
Food good, but not as good as Nan.
