I'll be heading to Chicago (first timer!) with my partner March 4-7 - flying in Friday night, leaving Monday night.
I am looking for recommendations that might be unique to Chicago or not available where we are (Denver) and we are staying in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, close to the Diversey (Brown/Purple) stop.
I'm already taking notes based on several other threads, so a huge thanks to everyone who has already posted opinions/advice on these and others:
We are not looking for fine dining or upscale places for this trip - mostly just casual - and not huge drinkers so craft cocktails or great wine selection are not priorities - if we can get a glass of budget wine and whiskey/coke that's as much as we'd care for. No dietary restrictions, and no particular cuisine preferences, although bakeries, places with smaller portions or snack-y type things might be nice to know about in addition to actual restaurants. My partner actually is not that "into" food and doesn't like long waits (more than 30-45 min) - so I'd like to find places that might be hidden gems or low-key neighborhood joints/local favorites, not necessarily only in Lincoln Park but easily accessible. If a place tends to have long waits but has shops nearby to wander while you wait, that would be fine. We will not have a car so will rely on walking/public transit/Uber/cab.
We don't have a set itinerary for the weekend, mostly wandering around museums and some of the sights (Millennium Park, Navy Pier), so I'm just compiling a list of potential food places and since he doesn't focus much on meals, we're more likely to "drop in" to places when we're getting hungry rather than planning the activities around restaurant reservations (which would be more of my M.O. if I were travelling alone).
Places that I'm considering:
Mindy's Hot Chocolate
Thanks in advance!
