Water Grill - don't get the hype

This past weekend, I went to the Water Grill for my third and, most likely, last time. While the food is fine, there is nothing that compels me to return. Especially when you factor in the travel factor (55 minutes from BH on Saturday) and prices.

A few specific comments:

The space is awkward and the ambiance a tad dull. I get neither the feeling of comfort or excitement.

The service is subpar. I had to ask for bread (after being seated for 15 minutes), and my wine glass was frequently empty - a problem when the wine bucket is out of sight.

The food is not great. I tried 4 different fish entrees - none were substantially better than fish at Spago/Campanile/Lucques - you get the idea. Also, of the 5 seafood entrees, 4 were fish fillets and 1 lobster. Where were the scallops/seafood stews/whole fish etc?

The wine list has an extremely high markup (2X wholesale), with virtually no wines under $50. They do have good stemware. Corkage is $20. I'd advise you to BYO, unless expense account.

The two of us spent just over $200, with BYO.
