In October, I had a chance to celebrate Filipino American History Month with limited edition Pinoy flavors at Wanderlust Creamery's new location in Pasadena. This branch in Old Town had opened five weeks earlier in a collective food hall.
The friendly counter guy said I was welcome to taste as many flavors as I'd like. By the time I got to #3 (of 6), he asked, "are you some kind of a professional ice cream taster?"
Flavors tried (in order of preference from most to least favorite):
Mango & sticky rice
Abuelito malted crunch
Keso de bola
Salted duck egg yema
A triple taster is three small scoops for $6.50. I got Sapin Sapin (ube malted crunch, jackfruit and sticky rice striped like neapolitan), Abuelito and Sans Rival. The ice creams are made with Straus organic milk and were a deliciously fun way to recognize Filipino history.
