I was walking past Isabella's on Columbus...

... and noticed that the tables for two at this Italian dining establishment, (at which, by the way, I've never eaten), are obnoxiously close together. In fact, if there is any space at all between the tables, its only enough through which to wedge, say, a credit card. No, these tables are, for all intents and purposes, attached in communal dining fashion, affording, it would seem, not even a semblance of privacy or comfort. So my question, in this moment of derisiveness, is this: which is the more astonishing, management's chuzpah in jamming their big-wad patrons like soldiers in the mess, or the public's acquiesence to such uncomfortable and undecorous insults?
