What's walking distance from your home?

John Manzo | May 18, 2005 05:26 PM

Partner and I recently moved into a house that is roughly six blocks, or about a ten-minute walk, from the condo we moved out of. Despite being in the same community (Bankview, if you know Calgary), because it's closer in and not up a steep hill, we're suddenly drowning in restos that we can walk to (among other urban pleasures). So I'd like you to share what's walkable from your home, say within a .5 KM (that's <10 minutes for typical walkers). For me that means:

Moti Mahal (Indian of course), less then half a block
Co Do, Noodle King, and Da Lat, all Vietnamese
Restaurant Indonesia
Tio's (Mexican)
Cuppagogo (coffee, tea, bubble tea, wraps)
Opa Souvlaki, for horrible souvlaki
Mt Everest's, only Nepalese in western Canada
One each among Subway, Wendy's, KFC and McD's
Sammy's, so-so Lebanese takeout
Pegasus and Athens by Night, good Greek
Second Cup
Wrapture- yes wraps are still kicking, plus juice bar

and that most urban of urban delights, Priape. If you don't know, don't ask.

I should post this on the Toronto board so TO'ers can insist that none of these places can actually exist in Cowtown (except the fast food!)
