I was at Ippudo's bar area a few weeks back and they had a specialty cocktail that sounded interesting, it had Calpico and Shochu and a bunch of other stuff. When I ordered it, the bartender just said "you don't want that, it's gross."
I thought maybe he was just lazy and didn't want to mix a complicated cocktail, but he had no problem making a different cocktail for my friend, so I am going to take him at his word, that the cocktail is unpalatable.
Have you guys ever had this happen at a decent restaurant before? Where some item on the menu was so disgusting the waiter or bartender couldn't bring themselves to inflict it upon you? I've seen it on Kitchen Nightmares, but I was a little stunned to see it in person, at a relatively successful restaurant.
