I'd read some mixed reviews of the newly gussied-up La Serenata de Garibaldi in Boyle Heights, so I approached brunch there on Easter Day with some trepidation. Wrong! It's still the best eggs in LA in my book, East or Westside. I had chilequiles en mole with a couple of over easies -- fine. Some friends had spinach omelettes with salsa verde -- ditto. And my wife had her eggs accompanied by a mixture of Swiss chard and chorizo which I could eat every day with pleasure. All sides were similarly good -- excellent frijoles, fresh tortillas, wonderful salsa and good compliementary quesadillas. You can see I like the place. Glad it's back.
