Claro Ristorante AKA Claro Fish Jr! This was the best food of our trip: smoked Marlin was superb bay scallops, delicate crunchy shrimp tasty oyster taco, and a fresh and generous condiment bar with chili oil reminiscent of China,— as good as the best seafood taco trucks, in a fast served informal setting.
French Riviera, a bakery close to the center plaza: light butter-filled crisp and yeasty croissants—they must have a French baker lurking there. Fresh meringues stuffed with rich whipped cream and a touch of Mexico in the rolls filled with local goat cheese and jalapeños.
Mi Cocina-- A mixed bag. Oysters tempura with sour cream caper dressing were meaty oysters with good contrast. Chocolate mousse with eggnog—eggnog was more Advocaat but clearly freshly made. Chocolate mousse was all I could wish for: good quality chocolate foamed with separated eggs, no cream or gelatin to screw things up, and three raspberries for a touch of tartness. But my main: cauliflower in truffle cream sauce: oh dear, the cauliflower pieces were waterlogged and the dish was barely lukewarm. A quick flash under the broiler would have given both deeper taste and some heat.
