First Visit

Hi all,

San Francisco chowhound here, and I'm hoping you can give me some advice on a couple things! I'm hoping to make my first ever visit to New Orleans later this year, in the early part of August. I'll be with a medium-sized group (around 15 people total). We'll be staying at a hotel just a block or so from the French Quarter.

First thing - any suggestions on a restaurant that could accomodate our group for dinner without making us do a set course/buffet style deal? Preferably one that'll stay under $20 for entrees.

Second thing - I'm sure you get this question incessantly, and I'll be reading down the past posts in the coming months, but what's the "must eat" list for New Orleans? Is there anything in place like the San Francisco Tip Sheet and if so, where can I find it?

I know that one way or another we'll fit in a visit to Commander's Palace, but other than that I have no "musts" on my list yet.

Thanks in advance,
