Finally tried this place last night after all the glowing reviews here with a friend and it was not good, food and especially service-wise
Immediately upon being seated we got approached with 2 bottles of pricey sparkling water (bad sign) which we turned down. Crusty warm bread with good butter came out next (good sign) and we looked over the small menu
My friend ordered the salmon with Israeli couscous but asked to substitute fries for the couscous and was told the chef does not do substitutions. When chefs at this level refuse to substitute, it *better* be an excellent combination. I ordered the seasonal chopped salad and the mushroom ravioli. Our server advised the ravioli was small so I also ordered their mac and cheese
The chopped vegetable salad was fresh and OK if a bit smallish, with a light dressing and chopped carrots
When the salmon arrived it was like a bad joke. Ultra-tiny (I am talking 1.5" X 5") sliver of salmon that was cold and undercooked served on a puddle of flavorless couscous. This had to be sent back
The mac and cheese with gruyere had a good if salty flavor but the sauce was way too thin and runny for mac and cheese
The worst part was that the server completely forgot the ravioli! He he said he thought I ordered the mac and cheese as a substitute, but I ordered it in addition to the ravioli which said was small! By the time he came around we were ready to leave
I give this place 6 months tops, it just seems like a pet project for some rich trust fund kid-chef who doesn't really take things seriously. If the chef and servers took their business as seriously as their Mary Quant meets Liza Minelli haircuts they might last for a year!
