Viennese Dessert Sampler At Four Seasons

Bride of the Juggler | May 19, 2002 09:22 AM

We finally journeyed to the mythical dessert bar at the Four Seasons. It is not actually all you can eat. Rather, you order the dessert sampler for two ($20) or for four ($35) and they bring you a three-tiered display of desserts. We went with four people, and had the following:
The top tier had strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries with a mound of fresh whipped cream. The second layer had creme puffs, chocolate mousse cups, and a peach tart that was so intensely peachy that "it had entrapped the spirits of a thousand peaches." The bottom tier had carrot cake, a tart with a layer of berry filling below a layer of chocolate fudge, a berry pound cake, and a lemony layer cake. There were two pieces of each.

Overall my favorite was the creme puffs. What an amazing fresh custard filling!

The drinks were fantastic. I had a sidecar ($7) and others tried some of their signature cocktails like the blood orange martini and the bellini martini ($11.50 each).
