I'm an SF hound who sadly missed yet another Chowing With The Hounds Picnic this year. However, I did appreciate the thread earlier this month in which several hounds offered the recipes for the dishes they brought. I attended my niece's birthday party this weekend in Chicago and thought I should prepare the recipe I printed out for vespaloon's garlic artichoke dip as it looked so delicious (and was intrigued by the idea of baking it in a bread loaf for two hours).
Well, this is not really a dip, it's an addiction. My mother literally bent at her knees and had to sit down upon her first taste. It was a full-on knockout on a chilly, autumn Chicago afternoon (not that weather was a factor in its tastiness). I was with my sister's in-laws, who traditionally gather on Christmas Eve, and my brother-in-law's sister immediately said, "I have dibs on this for my offering! Where's the recipe?"
Thanks, vespaloon. If I were you, I would have trademarked this recipe, made a mint and then beat it to Tahiti!
