Verdad in Bryn Mawr

First, let me say that I'm a born complainer. I'm not "picky", I just want good food. I think that if I'm paying ridiculous prices, the food should be ridiculously good. More often than not, I leave a restaurant with buyer's remorse. That said...

We just ate at Verdad in Bryn Mawr. It was terrific!! A bit pricey, but terrific. Our server advised us that the plates were served Tapas size and style, so we should order 2 or 3 plates per person. With that in mind we started with Taco Boats, a Cheese Board and Hamachi Civiche. The Taco Boats were so delicious. We then sampled the Short Ribs, Rabbit and Crab Cake. The Crab Cake was excellent, with pieces of spicy sausage and lump crab meat. The Rabbit was fall off the bone wonderful, served in a fragrant broth with what we think were braised currants. We could have devoured two more of these. Short Ribs are always a hit, but this was especially delicious, served over a potato gratin.

Next came Lamb Chops, Diablo Seafood and Carnitas. The Lamb was served with a fried egg on top and cooked perfectly to temperature. It was rich and wonderful. My only one small complaint (there had to be one) was that the Diablo Seafood was not spicy. Tasty, but mild. Dessert was not my favorite either. We ordered Carmel Apples and Churros. The Churros were good, served with Mexican hot chocolate and chocolate dipping sauce. The Carmel Apples were to be served with honey and frozen vanilla yogurt. The apples were good, but the yogurt was funky. It tasted like tart sorbet. Maybe it was "authentic".

My new favorite drink is their Cinnamon Thyme Margarita. This place is great overall. The service was great. The food was flavorful and delicious. The flavor combinations were perfect.
We will certainly go back to try the paella.
