I know there were some raves here lately about vegetarian palate on flatbush avenue and esp about the crispy nuggets. Based on that rave, I tried them - they were okay... the sauce really made them but I couldn't imagine why they'd get such raves; they just seemed overcooked & dry. But the real scary dish was the vegetarian beef with broccoli which I assumed was modeled after 'sesame medallions' from zen palate which I really like. The vegetarian beef with broccoli was the worst dish I think I've ever tasted; in fact, I couldn't eat more than a few bites. It had no taste, it looked horrible and I couldn't imagine a decent restaurant serving that. Where is the quality control? Has anyone working at vegetarian palate ever even tasted that dish before putting it on the menu and serving it? I'd been there once before when it first opened and I thought it was 'okay' but nothing great. .. not on par with the good & unique vegetarian restaurants in Manhattan. I sometimes wonder if this is a Brooklyn thing, I love Brooklyn but I sometimes feel the establishments just don't try as hard for 'greatness.' (and so many are so expensive for no good reason...) Now I'm sure there are people who really like vegetarian palate but (a) have you tried some of the good veggie restaurants in Manhattan or are you just comparing it to the non-existent ones in Brooklyn ? and (b) what in the world do you order? Thanks!
