Van's has been sold, but is continuing with its current menu for the most part. We had dinner there last night and the quality seemed pretty good.
The cha gio were actually better (Van's always had the filling too dense for my taste, almost like a sausage.) The soft shell crab in ginger and green onion had some stellar fried ginger, although it also had too much gloopy sauce.
Beware of the waitress's suggestions, though. She seems to be pushing blander items. The spouse selected a seafood soup at her suggestion, and it wasn't at all up to Vietnamese soup standards. The broth was weak, although the shrimp in it were very tasty. We would have been better off with one of the yellow noodle soups.
Sorry Joe H., I wasn't in a mood to try the shaky beef!
