Thanks to all who recently offered advice in reply to my inquiry about visiting Vancouver with young kids. We had a wonderful time in your beautiful city, and thoroughly enjoyed the food. We never made it to any gelato place besides Mondo Gelato, since it was right across the street from our hotel, and I am embarrassed to admit that we had gelato there every night we were in Vancouver! Super yum -- why don't we have gelato in Chicago? We also ate at Hon's, a block or so away, several times, and found their food quite delicious, and we are frequent visitors to our Chinatown here in Chicago. On the day your PM was visiting Chinatown, we went out to Sun Sui Wah, which is a lovely place, though there the food was more like what we do get at Chinese restaurants here (though the seafood was much fresher). We also tried True Confections, which was fine, but we all prefered the gelato over cake, so we avoided the other dessert places in favor of ice cream. The Fish House was a great place for lunch after hiking through Stanley Park. And we spent a day open-mouthed (and, sometimes, with stuffed mouths) awed by the fantastic produce and fresh fish at the Public Market -- you lucky folks. Even our local farmer's markets here do not offer strawberries and raspberries like we sampled there. And, of course, we can get fresh smelts from Lake Michigan, but no crab or salmon. (We ate great fish and shellfish during our most enjoyable stay in Tofino, as well.) I'm a loyal Chicagoan, and it's a great eating town, but I'm a bit jealous -- you have great food, plus an ocean and mountains to boot! Thanks again for the help! You made a great trip even better!
