What an unexpected find! In the wilderness of south county, decent Mexican food excluded, you might be hard pressed to find a palatable dinner without referrals.
The Village...3rd Ave between E Ave and H Ave is revving up. Every Tuesday evening in the summer there is a vintage car show worth checking out and I usually stop in Cilantro's...yummy,RAW healthy food. It's been reviewed before. Not for everyone but very creative and really fresh. Excellent smoothies.
The rave I'm expounding is a crepe stand in the Chula Vista Farmer's Market, Thursdays 3-6, at 3rd and Center. These guys make crepes in the style of Parisian street vendors. Crepes are feather-light, luscious, and browned nicely on the outside. Some of the fresh fillings include mushrooms, spinach, bacon, and finished with the ever addictive harissa. One is an entire meal and makes me want to return every Thursday for more. I think they're $5.
Definitely a shining star in the bleakness.
