Uneven Brunch Experience at Applewood Today

My husband, a friend and I went to Applewood today for the first time for a birthday brunch celebration. No big hype -- just wanted a nice brunch experience. We got there around 11:30 and waited at the bar for about 15 minutes for a table. Totally reasonable. The bartender was pleasant and we were offered drinked - we chose coffee. Unfortunately the coffeemaker was malfunctioning and the coffee was cool. We were told the chef was making a vat on the stove and it would be ready soon.

We were shown to our table and two of us ordered the blood orange mimosa. Absolutely delicious. Two of us ordered omelets - a salmon omelet and a winter omelet and the third ordered the steel cut oats. Service was verrrrry slow. It took an incredibly long time for the food to come.

Incredible because there really were a lot of people working on the floor imo and there looked to be a lot of people in the kitchen. Despite this it was slow getting coffee refills. The food took 1/2 hour or more to come. Mind you it wasn't crazy busy. Most of the tables were taken. There were some larger parties waiting at the bar or in the vestibule but there were two-tops available.

When the omelets did come it took a few extra minutes beyond what would be expected for the oats to come out. No butter and jam was brought automatically. Sugar and sweet and low were not just brought to the table or ask ed if needed. We got a side of house made sausage which, tho delicious, wasn't cooked through to the center. The coffee refills remained slow in coming.

Is this usual for Applewood? Although the food was great overall the service glitches would put me off coming again. What are other people's experiences there?
