Underwhelmed at Little Giant

I had read last week's thread about Little Giant, but decided to still go because I had heard such great things and the menu looked really exciting. I really wanted to like the place.

For appetizers, my friend had the Beet Box salad, which tasted fine. I ordered the sausages and onions, which I was really excited for. The sausages were disappointing. They all tasted the same, none of which were sweet or hot just kind of all medium. They were very oily and the condiments didn't do anything for me. The herb butter with bread was much better in my opinion.

My friend and I both got the bass (I had wanted the duck, but they ran out), which was also just good, not great. The bass was moist and went well with the clams, but I thought the lentil stew didn't really work well with the fish. We shared an order of brussel sprouts which were great for the first few bits, but were intensely sweet from the maple syrup, I couldn't finish my half.

I got the milk and cookies for desert. The chocolate chip cookie and the ginger cookie were phenomenal, the oatmeal was alright. The hot chocolate was fine.

I don't know why I wasn't thrilled, I think I had very high expectations. I think, for what I paid, it wasn't necessarily worth the meal but if given good recommendations for what to order, would try again.
