Twin Cities: A Day by Day substitute?

I recently moved back to the Twin Cities after a couple years in chowhound purgatory. Say what you want about the food around here - I'm darn happy to be back! For many years, my favorite breakfast place has been the Day by Day cafe. And its still pretty good - don't get me wrong. I have yet to enjoy better blueberry pancakes anywhere else.

Still, I think the prices have gotten crazy - I'm just not convinced of the value anymore. For example, I ordered the bacon side to my beloved blueberry pancakes and got two average strips of bacon for $1.75. My wife is convinced that the breakfast burrito is half the size it used to be. Breakfast for three this past Sunday - said burrito and pancakes plus some huevos-ey kinda thing and coffee - cost $29 and change.

Now I'm happy to pay well for good food but I may have just departed my comfort zone. Am I crazy - or just one of those crabby, cheap old so-and-sos? If it's not just me, where else would you recommend for a good diner breakfast with that slight hint of creativity?
