Tuscany Questions, and Recs, Please

I am specifically looking for some casual, moderately priced places with delicious food. We may splurge, and always do, but I like to plan on less expensive meals, so that we have at least a few affordable options.

We are looking for recommendations in Volterra, Poppi, Arezzo and areas surrounding Florence, but outside the city. We aren't really interested in recs for Fiesole, knowing that town well enough.

Recs in Chianti towns are also welcome.

We aren't looking for any recs that are wine intensive, as I don't drink, and my husband may have a little wine, but is not particular, and it isn't important to him.

Two specific questions: has anyone eaten at Da Delfina near Artimino, and have any comments?

And finally, several years ago, we had an incredible meal in San Gimignano in the upper part of the town, in a tiny restaurant with three or four steps leading to the door, which, I believe was on the eastern side of the building, but I think in the northwest corner of a tiny piazzza. If this sounds at all familiar to anyone, I would love a name, even if it is a suggestion.

Thanks, Debbie
