My lunch at Turner Fisheries last week was excellent.
Efficient, not-chummy but very professional service (I'm down with that), nice variety of breads came first, water glasses were kept full.
I. Sugar Cured Smoked Salmon - Celery Root and Caraway Timbale, Mache, Virgin Olive Oil
Wow. So... the good thing going on here, it seems, is the long list of stuff after the word "salmon"... they've really got a talented hand doing the flavor mash-ups (not just on the apps, see below).
II. Roasted Monkfish Loin - Chestnut & Potato Hash, Pearl Onions Burgundy Long Pepper Glaze.
Another win. What can I say about fish? The fish was cooked perfectly,the potato hash was interesting and a nice complement to the fish. Full flavor, not too much of anything, an ideal luncheon main course.
They ran out of monkfish after ours had arrived, and substituted another fish entree. Don't know the details, but at least they didn't just scratch the item (hola, Masa cocinero del postre!)
III. Dessert Myer Lemon Pudding Cake, Cara Cara Orange & Grapefruit Medley Basil Oil Drizzle
Oh my goodness. It was beautiful and tasted amazing. The best moment was the sweet, minty basil aroma in the air before the plates hit the table. Looked incredible, tasted wonderful. I love dessert. This is a perfect dessert for lunch. And now I know a whole amazing way to use basil.
