We ordered the Turkish Breakfast for two, $29, including pastirma, soujuk sausage scrambled with four eggs, feta, coarse-textured baba ganoush, olives, grape tomatoes, cucumber cucumbers, fig jam, watermelon, red flame grapes, walnuts, soft fluffy housebaked pita, and the blessed kaymak with honey. My dining companion was inspired to share tales of his years studying in Ankara and the bountiful breakfast buffets very similar to this enjoyed in the homes of Turkish friends. I noticed that the other three couples in the room had all ordered the same with one party sharing with a small child and another added a side of avocado. Sharing this platter for a leisurely morning meal was a lovely start to the day.
I had considered ordering the Turkish coffee, but first asked my server if he would tell my fortune from the coffee grounds. He demurred, saying he did not have that skill but added that there are apps that will interpret them. Instead I had Numi organic mint tea and my friend ordered coffee by Andytown.
We studied the dinner menu and plan to return to try more from this kitchen. I'll certainly be back for more kaymak and other brunch items, such as the bulgur and coconut porridge or the yogurt pancakes, that sound so good. Parking in this neighborhood was easy on a Wednesday morning.
