Had read about the place in Time Out and was intrigued by mention of the home made curry sauce, slow cooked for 8 hours.
Modern stylish place within one of the Bankside developments more geared towards take out than eat in.
By mistake managed to order a katsu (rather than katsu curry) dish. It was scallop katsu bento for £5.95. Everything tasty and fresh, the scallops, the breadcrumbed coating, the accompanying teriyaki sauce, the side salad of shredded cabbage w/ sesame dressing, perhaps the rice was the only slight disappointment. Asked for some of the curry sauce to go with my left over rice and they obliged. It was good rather than excellent and I didn't taste the complexity and depth of flavours you might hope for from a home, slow cooked sauce but then again it was curry sauce without any meat or seafood in it and I already had a few other flavours going on in my mouth so I will definitely be back and focus just on the curry. Inspected the [packaged] sushi on my way out, it certainly looks notches above other fast food/on-the-go sushi places, I will sample next time. Nice yuzu drink from Japan to wash my food down.
An ambitious place that has made a good first impression on me.
