To reply to my own post of a few minutes ago, the 1/4 cup of warm milk and package of yeast that has just sat there for 15 minutes, I added about 1/4 teaspoon of sugar, and within 10 minutes, it had bloomed up enough to fill the cup measure... My apologies if I don't quote her quite correctly, but I have heard Martha Stewart say to add some sugar to give the yeast "something to eat"... well, it seems to be working... I do have a question, once the yeast has bloomed, how soon can you add it to the other ingredients? Enjoy reading others comments and how things can be done differently, but in the end, they still seem to work! Hoping to make Brioche for Easter Dinner, still have time to practice!
