I just inherited a truffle in a jar. It is 15 gram 'Summer Truffle' from Urbani Tartufi. The 'Use By' date is 12/31/05, but it seems to be a bit low on liquid which makes me wonder if the seal is good (the jar has one of the 'pry off' kind of lids one finds on fancy tinned products. How would I know if is spoiled?
Can I make a compound butter with a tinned truffle or is there a better use?
