We arrived on Friday and went to Blake's on Poydras. It was traditional brunch and breakfast done ok. We then later ventured to Hansen’s snobliz. It was our first time and loved it. Bananas foster snobliz was so good and worth the wait. My DH had another great one. Creme of nectar and satsuma.
We then went to High Hat Cafe. It was excellent. We shared a crispy fried okra appetizer. Then, I had the small catfish with hush puppies that were so good. My DH had the shrimp Creole and pimento Mac n cheese which he ate and said was very good. Wet finished of with blueberry pie and Creole cream cheese ice cream. If you have never had this ice cream, please try. It is delicious and so was the pie
On Saturday, we tried to go to Guys Poboys but they were closed. So, we went to Domilese. I had the roast beef poboy and it was good with a really meaty flavor. My DH got the hot smoked sausage and it was excellent.
We had to go to Angelo Brocato and it had delicious lemon ice and many more cookies and such go.
For dinner, we had Mr B’s bistro. We had the gumbo ya-ya and bbq shrimp. The gumbo just had that burnt flour flavor with not a lot of flavor and normally I love it. My husband said the shrimp were over dinner slightly and the normally wonderful sauce just didn't have that bang.
For Sunday brunch, we went to Angeline. At this point, our best meal so far. We started with fried pickles. They were thickly sliced with a. 1 very tart taste that was so good. They had a buttermilk dill dressing that was creamy and tangy. I had the fried chicken and biscuit and gravy with a side of potatoes. The biscuit was made with wheat flour and was so good. They had cane butter with it that you wanted to lick by itself. My DH had wagyu short ribs with potatoes And pickled red onions. He said they were flavorful and done perfectly. The chocolate pecan pie had the wheat crust which was melt in your mouth good. If you haven't tried Angeline, I highly recommend it.
For Sunday evening meal, we may have putt best meal yet this trip. We went to Galliano and recommend it. They brought us complimentary hush puppies that were good. We ordered a gumbo to share and it was flavorful that DH had to order the corn chowder with she crab which was very good with lots of crab. Next DH got the pork chop with three bones that was large and very good. It included red beans and rice which were very tasty. I had the catfish which was so tender and flaky and the side was Creole shrimp and rice which was so rich and hearty. We were both so full or we would have had dessert and the dishes sounded delicious.
