Trip report, and many thanks!

Thanks so much for all your helpful recommendations! We had 6 wonderful meals-not a bad one in the bunch.

The first night was a bit of a surprise-Portofino in the Mirage. I made reservations there because we had show tickets and getting around is difficult for my husband so we wanted a restaurant in the hotel. I didn't expect much as no one had recommended it and we were pleasantly surprised. Perhaps because we had low expectations but we thoroughly enjoyed everything we had-meatballs, octopus, pasta and osso bucco. And, their service could not have been nicer. A really pleasant was to,start our trip.

Next we went to Yardbird for my fried chicken fix. Not popular on the board but it's what I wanted. We enjoyed smoked bone marrow, fried green tomatoes and the chicken. The made to order peach cobbler was worth the wait. The blackberry something or other drink was a perfect complement to the chicken.

For my birthday celebration we went to Le Cirque. It was wonderful. I particularly appreciated that they had no problem with my husband getting the 5 course while I opted for the three course. They were accommodating in every regard. I loved the lobster salad, rabbit and chocolate ball. My husbands favorite course was the sweetbreads.

Again we choose a restaurant because of show tickets at the Wynn and we went to Wing Lei. Based on chowhound comments I read we opted for the Peking duck and it was superb. We also had assorted appetizers, hot and sour seafood soup and dessert. We were pleased with everything. We would go back even if we were not going to a show there, we enjoyed every morsel.

The next night took us to Lotus of Siam. We over ordered as there were too many things we wanted to try. We had crispy rice, larb, garlic wings, drunken noodles with soft shell crab and curry beef. Thankfully we were staying in a room with a frig and microwave so lunch the next day was our leftovers. Thanks for the heads up on the spice level-4 was enough for us.

Our last dinner was at Jaleo. We had an assortment of tapas and enjoyed each one-the bread and tomato was my favorite and I rue the fact I didn't get a second order.
