Trip Food Recap

I got back Friday night and first, thanks to all the helpful tips from all on this board. Brigtsen's for the last evening dinner was a huge success. We had the 3 course early evening meal for $16.95. This was one of the best meals we had, worth much more than the price. We had Mushroom-Leek soup, Gulf Fish with a shrimp etoufe topping and side dishes (yes, the coleslaw was present, too!) and the Banana Bread Pudding with Custard Sauce and Caramel. My friends were thrilled with the whole experience.
Not so thrilling were the 2 meals at Mother's - I couldn't believe we were going for 1 trip, the 2nd finally convinced them that this was not a desired destination. I stayed with the ham on both visits, the ham ferdi on the first visit and the ham and bisquit for the second, so it wasn't bad - just I know there are so many better places.
Bella Luna on the first night was good, but not worth a repeat on the next trip. I picked it for the atomosphere and the view of the river. Although we had a window - it was partially blocked, so that was a bust. The pork chop with pecan crust was very good. Too full for dessert, but my friend got the bread pudding. It was so small that my fullness would not have been a problem.
GW Fins was great for me, so-so for my friends. They felt it was a little stuffy and were put off by the candor of the waiter. I liked that he had strong recommendations -which I went with and had a divine trout selection and a pinot noir that was also excellent.
Brennan's for brunch during the week was quite special. I had the eggs benedict over andouille sausage (can't remember the name), baked apple and Banana's Foster for dessert. Our waiter had 2 Brandy Milk Punch drinks to get rid of, and we kindly obliged hm.
The Napoleon House Pimm's Cup cocktail was as great as everyone said - so thanks for that tip. We also had dinner there one night and although the wait was long -the waiter had prepared us, so we didn't mind. I got the pork tenderloin that was cooked to order, so it just meant more Pimm's Cups for me.
Breakfast at Petunia's our final morning was wonderful. I had the Pan Perdu (spelling?-it's french toast) and bacon, one friend got the eggs, bacon and grits and the other got an eggs benedict - but with egg plant and grilled tomatoes instead of the ham and muffin. We were all very pleased. The wait was not long and we paid less than Mother's!
I had to cancel reservations for Commander's, NOLA, Mr B's, Bayona and Dickie Brennan's. It was just too many reservations for the week - so now I have a lot to look foward to for the next trip.
