Trios Ravioli

This is a carryover from another thread. I stopped in at Trios in the North End..222 Hanover St.. on Sat. For the record, I am not a regular there...haven't been in there in years...but my gfriend was in a "buying mood" and Salumeria Italiano was packed with people..this was about 4 PM.

We got a goat cheese and red pepper ravioli and tricolor cheese tortellini...cooked up the rav last night with a little butter, garlic, and fresh sage. It was truly awesome...chewy pasta..fresh, vibrant stuffing.

This place is not inexpensive..$10/lb..For research purposes, I checked a few other places around town today...Savenors, which has ridiculous prices, had a few "artisinal" raviolis at a much higher price...they don't post a price/lb...but it's exorbitant. Deluca's sells Contadina fresh made ravs for $4/9oz..works out to about $7/lb...I've tasted the Contadina..mass produced..not very good..

I used to be a fan of Biaggis, but they're long gone..so it seems that Trio's is the best game in town..at least for a vehicularly challenged city boy like me.
