Tribune's article on best steak tacos

Taqueria El Asadero: 2213 W. Montrose was overlooked.
This place has the best steak tacos yet. The Chicago Magazine voted El Asadero's steak tacos as #1 a few years ago. I didn't see it on the Tribune's "Best Steak Tacos" list a week or two back. My second choice would be the taco cart under the viaduct at the Maxwell Street/Canal Street Flee Market...anyone know it? This place serves up hundreds if not thousands of steak tacos on a single sunday.
Anyway, I've eaten steak tacos at several Taquerias that were on the top ten list and they don't compare to El Asadero's tacos. I stopped by for my first visit at El Cid (#2 on the Tribune's list)in Logan Square on Kedzie the other day and had a bad experience. I was intially impressed by the great rear outdoor this place was booming. Don't ask me why but, I ordered the fish soup which if you've ever had a good one it's addictive. I smelled the days over due disgusting looking fatty fish before it even arrived at the table. The fish tasted and smelled as if it had washed ashore, dead, back in 1969 when they first opened! It was absolutely disgusting! This place was so packed that the staff could not keep up, the service was terrible. The steak was decent. Why is it that people flock to places like this?
