My almost 2 year old son has allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, egg, and legumes. We will be in Paris and Switzerland (mostly in Luzern, but also taking the train from Paris to Italy via Switzerland). I found some info about allergen laws/labelling/expectations regarding Italy, but am wondering how this plays out in terms of eating in restaurants --- do they really avoid cross-contamination? Do they really know all the ingredients used in any of their foods? Does anyone has experience in Paris and/or Switzerland? Are these places allergen aware? Do they list ingredients? Do restaurants know what goes in their food? Are they careful about cross-contamination? We can keep my son's diet pretty simple --- cheese, meats, fruits, and other kinds of "whole" foods -- I am hoping these would be readily available and labeled???
