towns without chow?

Are there places that just don't have any good chow? I've lived in little towns and big cities, and I've always been able to find at least one Chowhound-quality eatery in each one.

But I've noticed on the boards that some location inquiries don't receive any answers. I'm wondering if those communities lack chow or 'hounds.

What prompted this is my inquiry on the Canada board about a good place to eat in Hamilton, a good-sized city about 60 kilometers outside of Toronto. There were no suggestions, and I noticed other inquiries about Hamilton also went unanswered. It's hard for me to believe there's no chow in Hamilton.

I've noticed this on some of the other boards as well -- some cities just don't get responses. So I'm wondering: Has anyone lived in a place that didn't have at least one good eatery? If so, what did you do?
