My last mouthful in Hangtown was at Totem Coffee Roasters. Yes, Placerville has its own small batch, artisanal coffee roaster.

While my cappuccino ($3.86) was well-made, the Guatemalan-Peru blend espresso beans don’t give the high tones or acidic lift I was expecting. Still enjoyable as a morning beverage surrounded by reclaimed wood, Edison bulbs and local hipsters munching on avocado toast.
