Why oh why didn't my toffee harden properly? I simmered it constantly for 25 minutes and still, only firm goo at the end. Ideas?
Here are the ingredients:
1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/3 cup water
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
