TJ's marinated Bulgogi, a pleasant surprise!

gnarlex | Oct 18, 2005 02:52 PM

I've found TJ's refrigerated uncooked marinated meats in vacuum bags to be generally oversalted and unsatisfactory, but I try them all becaue there could be the one surprise. Bulgogi was it. The package obscures the contents. I expected very thinly sliced meat, but the contents were about 9, 1/3-1/2 inch thick long strips of marinated beef short rib. Happily, the marinade wasn't oversalty, although I wouldn't classify it as deserving a "heart-healthy" label either. The instructions said "grill very quickly", so I pan-broiled them in batches over very high heat for about 3-4 minutes total. Throw on a few thinly sliced scallions and some TJ 3-minute nuked rice, it's a fresh meal in 10 minutes. Winner!
