Tita la Guanaca - Very Brief Review

Hearing all the talk about this place, I just had to go. So I did.

I ordered a pupusa and a tamale. On the whole, nothing special.

The pupusa was better than the tamale, which was a wad of white corn mush, also containing a piece of chicken, an olive, and some potato. It was heated in a banana leaf or maybe a corn husk, but did not acquire any special flavour from that cooking mode. Very ordinary. Like eating mashed potatoes. Pleasant enough, but no big deal.

The pupusa was fair to good. Freshly made, which is nice. The filling had morphed into an almost uniform paste, which was fairly tasty but lacking real bold flavour. It was served with a watery, near flavourless tomato sauce, and a very watery cole slaw, neither of which were good enough to take much of.

Both items, plus a bottle of water came to $5 and change. Good value, I suppose. But, after reading the posts on this board, I expected something wonderful. I got something decent. But, it's always worth trying.

Keep the recommendations coming. Thanks for them.
