Tips for Last Minute Chow Weekend in Philly?

DC Gal | Apr 20, 2006 09:40 PM

DC Hubby and I have decided to do a last minute trip to Philly this weekend. We will be staying right in the center of the city.

Hubby is coming for the history - I am coming for the chow. He has left the food planning up to me with his only request being a cheesesteak (well, DUH!).

So, what else should we be sure to do? The terminal and market seem like must do's. Some other specific questions are:

What is the best place for a good red-gravy italian dinner?

Where is the very best cheesesteak?

Is Shane's Candies really the best?

Is is true you have a Buttercup Bake Shop (they ae my current leader in my search for the perfect cupcake on business trips to Manhattan)? Where is it? What other good bakeries do you have?

And, what else should we not miss?!?!

Please let me know if I can return the favor if any of you are headed to DC anytime soon.
