Last night I had the pleasure of dining at Shimizu on 51st. between I think 8th and 9th. Usually when I go out for sushi I am not satisfied with the quality unless I have paid an arm, leg, and the promise of my first born child. In NYC, good sushi is $$$ as we all know. Well Shimizu is by no means cheap, but is really well priced for the quality of fish they serve. We started off with the steak tataki and tuna tartar (served with salmon/quail egg, just the way I like it.) We also had an egg fondue app with uni, shrimp, and lobster, which was so delicious I had to do my food dance, the side-to-side "it's yummy" wiggle. After that we munched on various sushi, my favorites being the uni, saba, and hamachi, which melted in my mouth. Finally we capped off the eveing with dessert, including a delicious chocolate mousse with raspberry sauce and a heavenly light creamy pudding. A fantastic experience, I can't wait to go back!
