Much to our surprise, we made one of our rare trips to Tibetan Yak yesterday to find it replaced by a new restaurant, Himalayan Yak. New decor - rusty red walls with some lattice detail makes it look more "restaurant"- like than the old TY. But - who cares about all that - the food is the thing, and from our limited experience, things are still good. The people there told me the changeover was last Saturday (a week ago), and the service left a little to be desired, but the people are just so sweet and the food so delicious, all was forgiven. It seems that the old TY menu is still there, but there is an additional Nepalese menu. I ordered from that - lamb chunks, grilled with a spicy sauce for my appy, a multi-bean and chicken soup for my main. Hubby tried the fried fish appy, but stayed with his old fave, chili chicken from the former menu. My daughter had momos - still good, but she thought they were bigger now - and chili pork. The place was about 3/4 full, which was good to see, and we were there early (6-ish) on a Sunday.
